TEAPOTS presented at ICWMT21 in Shanghai

TEAPOTS was presented at the 21st International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT21), held from 4 to 7 July 2026 in Shanghai, China, through two presentations delivered by Anran Li, Postdoctoral Researcher at Wageningen University.

The first presentation examined the potential of compost heat recovery systems to support the valorisation of greenhouse tomato plant residues. The research compared representative greenhouse scenarios in the Netherlands, Spain and China, considering factors such as greenhouse characteristics, tomato plant residue availability, heating demand and CHRS performance.

The second presentation focused on heat recovery from the aerobic fermentation of agricultural residues, with particular attention to reactor design and practical implementation. It covered key aspects of system operation, including aeration, moisture management and different approaches to recovering heat generated during the process.

Together, the presentations introduced TEAPOTS research on the modelling, design and implementation of heat recovery systems using agricultural residues.

Anran’s participation provided an opportunity to share the project’s work with an international scientific audience and exchange knowledge on agricultural residue valorisation and heat recovery technologies.
